Poetry, bellydancing, live art auction featuring the expert auctioneer services of Schwartz Co. Auctioneers and Appraisers, wine and cheese reception inside of a beautiful, light-filled space. Bring your checkbook so that you can buy your tax-deductible artwork on this fourth and final day of this year’s Girlstock benefit, where local poet and cancer survivor Carol Dorf will be joined by other women who will open the evening with shared stories about their struggles with cancer. Then prepare for a pre-auction treat by performers from belly dance superstar Suhaila Salimpour’s School of Bellydance (Ellen DeGeneres Show), who will absolutely titillate the crowd with a recital of classic and tribal belly dance moves that will make you glisten. Suhaila Salimpour is a highly acclaimed international performer, teacher, and choreographer of belly dance who was schooled from an early age in jazz, tap, ballet, with Middle Eastern dance instruction by her mother, Jamila Salimpour. The evening culminates at 7:30 p.m. with a fun, live, and very affordable art auction of donated works by over a dozen bay area artists, including work by Margo Rivera Weiss, curator of the JanRae Community Art Gallery at the Women’s Cancer Resource Center, Matt Colagiuri, and Shelli Renee Joye.
